We are seeking a Consultant to join our Customs team in Astana / Almaty.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of advisory memoranda on tax and customs matters in Russian and English;
  • Consulting on the selection of optimal customs procedures, completion of customs declarations, calculation of customs value, and classification of goods;
  • Assistance in drafting written responses to requests / notifications received by KPMG clients from government authorities;
  • Support during customs and tax inspections;
  • Conducting reviews of clients' customs obligations (customs audit) for KPMG clients;
  • Training junior colleagues, preparing client contracts, and pre-project risk management procedures.

Requirements:

  • Higher education in Economics / Finance / Law / Customs / Accounting and Audit;
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in one of the following areas: customs affairs, taxation; experience in an outsourcing company / international company is welcomed;
  • Experience with customs declarations or tax reporting, experience in appealing actions of government authorities;
  • Knowledge of international business operations, understanding of customs declaration in Kazakhstan;
  • Desire to grow in consulting and be a multidisciplinary specialist;
  • Preferably knowledge of one or more accounting programs (1C:Accounting, SAP, Oracle);
  • Fluency in Russian is required; knowledge of English is not lower than upper-intermediate, knowledge of the Kazakh language is encouraged.
